Hello from Shirley at shirleythompson.biz.

I help those with intention, whether individuals or groups/teams, to influence and collaborate more effectively.

I work in partnership with you, and encourage you to work with others towards shared purpose, and to have the confidence to step back to reflect and invite contribution from others.

High standards are to be encouraged, but perfection is an unreachable ideal. It's hard to perfectly create any complex machine, but we can keep  improving! Humans, too, are more unpredictable; thus innovative and fun; let's admire human spirit!

As an engineer/mathematician I originally learned a rational approach. Coaching and social research have provided the education that nothing related to people is black and white, rather a continuum of something in between on many, many dimensions.

Groups and teams can be greater than the sum of the individuals - and potentially even more innovative - but do we remember that noone is perfect especially in our imperfect world?

If you are feeling stretched by Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous situations, please expect people to be stretched, confused, challenged, frustrated and more. Let's all agree our high standards, monitor human risks then learn from experiences so that we humans evolve even faster - we supposedly have more brainpower than we currently utilise!

Let me help you find time to think, to experiment and to review; it’s so much easier to do when you have someone to support you through it: someone to say time to think is allowed, also to try things out, someone you can be open with about your experiences, to help air what you're really feeling, and understand how that affects your results and next steps.
